1. Overview
Briven ("the App") is a manual, structural budgeting app for iOS — no bank connections, no CSV/OFX import, no accounts. You enter your income sources, subscriptions, and expenses yourself, and Briven turns that into a clear monthly picture.
By installing or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

3. Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics
Briven uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) to understand how the app is used and to diagnose crashes.
These tools collect only anonymous, aggregated data such as:
- App open frequency and session duration
- Feature usage events (e.g., adding an expense, opening Reports)
- Device type, OS version, and app version
- Crash logs and stack traces
- Country/region (derived from IP, not GPS)
For details on how Firebase handles data, please refer to the Firebase Privacy Policy.
4. RevenueCat (Future Lifetime Purchase)
Briven is currently free. A future update will introduce an optional, one-time lifetime purchase (not a subscription) to unlock features such as savings goals and multi-year trend reports. When available, this purchase will be processed using RevenueCat.
For details on how RevenueCat handles data, please refer to the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
5. How We Use Information
Collected information is used solely for the following purposes.
- App Services: Tracking your income, subscriptions, and expenses, and turning them into monthly summaries and reports
- Multi-Device Sync: Synchronizing your financial data across your own Apple devices via iCloud
- App Lock: Verifying Face ID/Touch ID locally to protect access to the app
- Purchases: Validating and restoring your optional lifetime purchase via RevenueCat (when available)
- Improvement: Understanding feature usage and diagnosing crashes via Firebase to guide development
We do not sell or share your financial data or usage data with any third party for marketing purposes.

7. Data Retention & Deletion
- Financial Data (Local): Stored on your device and permanently deleted when you uninstall the App.
- Financial Data (iCloud): If iCloud sync is in use, uninstalling the App from one device does not remove your private iCloud copy. To fully remove it, go to iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Briven and delete the app data, or contact us for assistance.
- Purchase Data: RevenueCat's anonymous receipt tokens are governed by RevenueCat's retention policy. Contact us to request deletion.
- Analytics Data: Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics retain aggregated, anonymous event and crash data per Google's data retention policy.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your region, you may have the following rights.
- Right of Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Right of Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
- Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your data
- Right to Restriction: Request limitation of processing
To exercise your rights or for inquiries, please contact us at the address below.
9. Children's Privacy
Briven is not directed to children under the age of 13 (US) or 16 (EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you become aware that a child has used the App, please contact us immediately so we can take appropriate steps to delete the relevant data.
10. Security
Your financial data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework, protected by the device's file system encryption.
When iCloud sync is enabled, data is transmitted to and stored in Apple's private CloudKit database under Apple's encryption policy, both in transit and at rest. Your data is never transmitted to our servers.
When app lock is enabled, Face ID / Touch ID authentication is handled entirely by Apple's
LocalAuthentication framework and the device's Secure Enclave — your biometric data
never leaves your device and Briven never has access to it.
11. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated due to changes in law or service updates. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notifications or this page.
Changes take effect upon posting to this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
